Dear friends of Atzenhoffer,
Today is truly a great day! This morning, I received a letter from GM notifying me that Atzenhoffer Chevrolet Cadillac has been identified as one of GM's key dealers for the Chevrolet and Cadillac brands. By way of this letter, GM is offering us the opportunity to continue to represent it as its dealer designate for Chevrolet and Cadillac while it emerges from bankruptcy as the new GM.
As a part of the restructuring, GM plans to have fewer, stronger, and more properly located dealers to allow for higher through-put and enhanced business potential. The letter affirms GM’s high level of confidence in Atzenhoffer as a dealer in the new GM. Going forward, GM strongly believes it needs our dealership as a top performer in the Chevrolet/Cadillac dealer network. In closing, GM expresses its great respect for and appreciation of our past efforts as a GM dealer.
GM has also clarified its business relationship with us during the bankruptcy period and beyond. The bankruptcy court has already approved continuing payments from GM to its dealers and suppliers. This process should be transparent both for us and for our customers. In short, our business relationship with GM will be business as usual. We will still be reimbursed for all payments due us from GM, with no interruption in our ability to provide our customers the world-class service to which they are accustomed. The parts supply will remain on line, as will current and future product development. The new GM will emerge with a clean balance sheet and the ability to produce world-class vehicles at competitive rates versus non-union manufacturers, enabling it to become profitable again.
This is a monumental day for our company, family, employees, customers, and community, and we are all very grateful for this opportunity. However, while we are blessed with this good fortune, we remain very concerned for those less fortunate. Our hope is that other existing dealers in the Victoria area will not be negatively affected by the GM restructuring.
These are challenging times for us all, but we will go forward and we will succeed. Atzenhoffer Chevrolet Cadillac and our family want to express our sincere appreciation for all of the support we have received from our employees, friends, loyal customers, and community. It is a great day, we have a great future, and we look forward to sharing it together. Thank you all!
Sincerely,
Milton S. Greeson, Jr.
